Now, For Something Worthwhile from the JS

This is a neat feature story in the JS.

The story itself is pretty short and it's message is as follows: we have white deer in Vilas county, not many of them, and the locals know more about them than any regulated group does.

But the real story is the photo slideshow. Don't miss it. I'm not sure this photographer is much of a wildlife photographer, but he got some really great shots.

It Must Be A Slow News Day

Because the JS dragged this little number out of the card files.

Really, this is a display of nothing better to do with one's time.

We're trying to move this city forward. When we make a step forward, don't pull us back. Believe me, we have plenty of people in this city who already do that. They're part of the problem, they ruin it for everyone else who wants to move forward, and the JS is joining them.

I Could Very Well Be Too Incensed For Words

"Residents and scientists are aware of the negative effects to Lake Michigan created by runoff from farms fertilized with manure, yet regulators say their hands are tied on testing"

Since I don't want to waste perfectly good energy on something so stupid, I'll just link to the article.

Really, these people can't be helped.

What's Odd About This Screenshot from the JS?

Dear Journal Sentinel

You know what, being in the word business, you should learn to read.

And if you think you already can, you might want to revisit the part about learning to read called comprehension.

Executive Pay Proxies are written in legalese because lawmakers (the SEC) asked them to write it. The law requires it. Companies aren't going to respond by writing a Little Golden Book bedtime story about how little Johnny worked hard and was rewarded for his efforts. You know not of what you editorialize.

Legalese and Proxyese is the real world. Maybe you should take off your cardigans with the elbow patches and get out into it. Besides, you get what you ask for, so step up your comprehension skills and deal with it.

And another thing: All these laws you liberals demand - all these controls and regulations - mean lawyers. Guess what language lawyers speak?????
