Simple Truths Conveyed Simply

Gather 'round everyone, it's cartoon time! Now, those of you who are conservatives, sit back a little bit and let the liberal kids have the front row. After all, you big kids know how this one ends :)

H/T to Another Black Conservative

Well, this is an interesting bit of info about "The Flu"

Here at the Confidentials, my point is not to tell you what to think. My approach is to give you food for thought. Now, I know that thought is being bred out of our culture in favor of being told what to think, what to do, but I'm not budging from the basics. Case in point is that we now indoctrinate instead of educate children and some adults so that they are primed to simply swallow what they're told as long as it's delivered with fear, but I digress.

I thought it was relatively odd that Swine flu made a jump so quickly, while other animal flus are still years away from person to person contact. Turns out that Drudge might have had the same thought. He linked us to a little CDC flashback: check it out here.

Another Side of Abu Ghriab?

While eating my recessionary lunch of tuna salad, dill and capers, I came across quite a gem over at the Lair of the Catholic Cavemen. And from time to time, a post is so good, that I'll re-post the whole post. Hopefully the Lady and Gentlemen of the LOTCC will not mind.

So in reposting this I ask, how many times have you heard about the original usage of Abu Ghriab?

The Other Abu Ghraib
Bad Americans... BAD AMERICANS!

There are two wings to Abu Ghraib prison. In one wing, American personnel humiliated Iraqi prisoners by putting them on dog leashes, etc. In another wing, Saddam Hussein's son beheaded women, etc.

Which wing are you more familiar with?

The Defeatocrats and their propaganda machine (aka: MSNBC, CNN, The New York Times, NPR, etc.) are yet again resurrecting Abu Ghraib prison and all the "torture" that took place there. But here's the rub... which wing do you think their hypocritical rage is aimed at? (By the way, should I even bring up Nancy Pelosi knowing/not knowing about waterboarding?)

Here's some of the article from WND.com from back in 2004; (Emphasis mine)

One journalist present was New York Post's Washington bureau chief Deborah Orin, who wrote of "savage scenes of decapitation, fingers chopped off one by one, tongues hacked out with a razor blade – all while victims shriek in pain and the thugs chant Saddam's praises."

Noting that "Saddam's henchmen took the videos as newsreels to document their deeds in honor of their leader," Orin added, "but these awful images didn't show up on American TV news."

The following, according to the State Department report, were routine in Iraq during Saddam Hussein's rule:

- Medical experimentation

- Beatings

- Crucifixion

- Hammering nails into the fingers and hands

- Amputating sex organs or breasts with an electric carving knife

- Spraying insecticides into a victim's eyes

- Branding with a hot iron

- Committing rape while the victim's spouse is forced to watch

- Pouring boiling water into the victim's rectum

- Nailing the tongue to a wooden board

- Extracting teeth with pliers

- Using bees and scorpions to sting naked children in front of their parents

Saddam also routinely tortured and murdered women. The daily newspaper Babel, owned by Uday, Hussein's eldest son, contained a public admission on Feb. 13, 2001 of beheading women who were suspected of prostitution.

Let me ask you again... which wing of Abu Ghraib are you more familiar with?

If that doesn't infuriate you, then facts truly do not matter to you. I'll keep you in my prayers either way.

Founding Bloggers Report

This is a must-see wrap up of the Tea Parties, including the CNN footage.

But you really, really have to fast forward to 7:00. I've seen other accounts like this on Youtube and on TV. And I think we should take a tip from Ronald Reagan: "Don't be afraid to see what you see"

See the rest of the report at Founding Bloggers

If High Powered Rifles are Good Enough for the Milwaukee Police Department

They're darned good enough for US.

I get tired of hearing about how "scary" high-powered rifles need to be banned.

Chief Flynn is making the case FOR the people to be armed. His message? The bad guys have some high-powered stuff, and we need to be ahead of that.

We don't all need a high powered rifle (well, maybe) but let's look at something. In light of all of that - he's going to have "his troops" wrestle American citizens with the constitutional right to bear arms - to the ground if they open carry.

Are they living in a different city than the rest of us are? The MPD encounters a higher volume of dangerous situations than you and I do, but crime is not LIMITED in size, scope and location.

He's already acknowledged it's bad out there. But apparently, the lives of Police officers are more worthy of open protection than ours are.

And then there's Tommy B:

"We cannot have a situation in this city where our police officers are being outgunned by the bad guys."

Hello? Mayor Barrett??? What about the rest of us? Us peasants paying taxes, remember us????

"Mil-Town"

Am I the only one who is bothered by this term?

1) I think it sounds stupid
2) It sounds like we are trying to be "as cool as Chicago"

"Mil-Town". Milwaukee's way of nicknaming itself, "T-Bone"

Is it even possible to have a "Happy" Earth Day?

Since the envirowhackos would fall apart and cease to exist (or "co-exist"), if they weren't aggrieved?

It may be up to a year before I can afford a tooth replacement, especially for what I need in my situation:  an implant.  I'm considering using the Marquette Dental School for a more affordable scenario.  In the meantime, it will mean longer meals, cut up small.

Stay slim to save the planet

From Reuters:
LONDON (Reuters) - Overweight people eat more than thin people and are more likely to travel by car, making excess body weight doubly bad for the environment, according to a study from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

"When it comes to food consumption, moving about in a heavy body is like driving around in a gas guzzler," and food production is a major source of greenhouse gases, researchers Phil Edwards and Ian Roberts wrote in their study, published in the International Journal of Epidemiology.

"We need to be doing a lot more to reverse the global trend toward fatness, and recognize it as a key factor in the battle to reduce (carbon) emissions and slow climate change," the British scientists said.

They estimated that each fat person is responsible for about one tonne of carbon dioxide emissions a year more on average than each thin person, adding up to an extra one billion tonnes of CO2 a year in a population of one billion overweight people.

The European Union estimates each EU citizen accounts for 11 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions a year.

Beautiful. Now I guess we all should go on restricted calorie diets. Who decides who's fat and how fat? What if food IS an addiction, like any other drug. We do give SSI to addicts, you know, because they're disabled. Commie hero Chairman Mao had ways of dealing with opium addicts: he'd threaten to line them up and shoot them if they didn't quit.

Let's see: persecution of suv drivers, republicans, soldiers, Catholics, smokers, fat people. Did I miss something?

Phel Gets Her Shoot On

* Note to all McMiller people, be sure to read the last paragraph

I was the lone gunwoman today as I headed out to McMiller. Asian Badger was considering going but could not make it.

This was the first time I shot the gun, ever. So part of me really wanted someone to be there with me, but what was I thinking. Gun owners are a group of people who are generous with their time and knowledge. Every person I encountered today - working or shooting there - was wonderful and open to interaction. Which is very different from the intellect-minded city.

I patterned for Turkey to start with, and quickly figured out my shoulder pad wasn't necessary. I also need to get up further on the barrel and snug the gun in harder so that what I'm looking at down the barrel is what I intend to shoot. All of the long guns I've handled before have had scopes, so this is an adjustment for me.

Then, I went to the 100 yard range to shoot some slugs through the smooth barrel. I shot Winchester 2 3/4 1 oz slugs 1600 fps. I just lost every gun-fearing lefty there, but I digress :) Those slugs went well, but not as accurate as I would have liked in this barrel, although I was warned that would be the case. After about four of those, I switched to a Federal Power-Shok 3 in 1 1/4 slug, 1600 fps. One of those was enough for one day, my friends. At least until I get more range time and more tolerance.

Next trip, I'll switch out to the slug barrel and fire some sabots.

Later this evening or tomorrow, I will post a scan of a notice that McMiller gave me. The state rep for the area is trying to either a) get McMiller shut down in favor of a ski resort or b) restrict the type of ammunition that can be shot there. Both options are bad. McMiller is the only facility of its type in the state of Wisconsin, and we have to call the representatives and the DNR to ensure that it is not threatened. Apparently, the DNR is sympathetic to the continuity of McMiller. Stay tuned, because I will post the notice.

Make some calls... feel free to forward it on to anyone.

It's Almost Friday, and I Finally Saw Caddyshack

Oh yes, I ::was:: the only human being above the age of 18 who hadn't seen Caddyshack. Mr. Jones was there this evening to share the moment with me. Seriously, that's love. Being able to say, "hey baby, I know you've seen Caddyshack 62 times not counting the time you watched it yesterday, but would you watch it with me, for me?"

In the words of the lolcat, "we has a We".

Which has nothing to do with segueing into Buck Owens and Don Rich. But here goes. Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Buck Owens and Mr. Don Rich!

My Children Will Tell Me...

That they wished they could have lived when I did. The era of Reagan, during the times when considering life as sacred was the norm, when people knew the value of money, when they saved up for something instead of saddling themselves with debt, when most people worked and took pride in being productive instead of taking pride in taking, when having faith in Jesus Christ was not considered extreme, before we had an anti-female gangbanger culture, when we didn't normalize the sexualization of teenagers and allowed them to be teens until they were ready to become adults, and when children DID transition to adulthood. They will also ask me what it was like to have a somewhat liveable taxation level, good healthcare that was there when you needed it.

They will also ask me what it was like when facts mattered, pre-Alinksy, unlike the demoralization that has taken place whereby a segment of our population will only believe what they are told to believe.

Back when you could steer the ship. When you could give your word, keep it, and make life happen. Before the government and media locked out opportunity, collaboration and redefined our lives and our efforts right before our very eyes.

Yes friends, our children's lives and minds will not belong to them. We owe them an eternity of apology for allowing their birthright to be hijacked.

Bo. Coincidence, or More Pathological Narcissism?

Every time I saw a headline today that referred to "Bo" or "BO" I kept thinking that they were referring to the president. Turns out they were referring to a dog. I don't think it's any coincidence the dog is named with the president's initials.

Matthew 28
The Resurrection
1After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

2There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

5The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."

8So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me."

Beginning of Triidum

Tonight begins the Easter Triidum. Thursday mass, Friday Liturgy, Saturday Vigil. Sunday with the fam and Mr. Jones.

Friday will be my first Liturgy in the Extraordinary Form. Pa warned me that it "could take a while".

The world is full of sin and disregard and disrespect towards God right now. I will pray for them all. And I'll pray for the graces to keep on keeping on in the face of our world as it is today. And it's times like these when I'm extremely grateful for what Jesus has done for us...we need it.

God Bless us every one.

Extraction Successful

Really, I don't know how people do these themselves. I had breakage. BREAKAGE!

So it's weird to have a hole in my mouth, but I've made a deal with myself. I'll have to pretend it's the good old days of when my teeth would fall out as a kid. In other words, to pretend I'm 8 for a little while.

Which is in stark contrast to the liberals who are 8, everyday. So that means every day is kids day. Therefore, every day is Liberals day.

But, the grown ups, the conservatives, are used to that.

Oh No, Craigs Di-in't!

A Raccoon table? Seriously, what are the odds?

Thankfully, I Don't Live in the UK or Germany

...where they have to resort to grabbing a forceps to pull their own teeth.

Imagine the pain of a toothache, which can only be addressed to a certain point with antibiotics. Or, imagine having mitral valve prolapse, where bacteria in the bloodstream can cause heart palpitations. Infected upper teeth can also cause chronic sinus infections (which happened to fa family member). Thank God and sweet little baby Jesus for our health care system!

Tomorrow morning, I will gladly get my rear molar pulled. The infection has created other physical problems for me that thankfully will now start to resolve themselves. I had a root canal on the tooth many years ago, so I didn't know until recently that I had a major problem.

Popsicles, tapioca, sesame tofu, and drugs. Hooray for our health system!!!!!!!!!!!

Posting May Be Sparse

I've got a little something going on, and I think it's been going on for a bit.

Reducing stress might help the problem short term, i.e. blogging less, reading fewer stories about the dismantling of our country, etc. Which is, I'm sure, a delight to those who want to slam socialism through. One less person watching, what glee!

Nope. We will never stop watching. And we won't give up this country.

Or our religion, our values, our responsibility, our self-reliance, our guns. You all can stick it.

I Have Year-Old Peeps

Last year, I crammed a bunch of peeps into a mason jar and had a guess-how-many-peeps contest.

Kind of a Bad Dream

I dreamt that the sun was going to die. It wasn't going to swell up and swallow the earth like the horror stories we heard in grade school... it would just fade away and stop giving off light.

So it would eternally be night here, my children would never know what a bright warm sunny day would feel like.

Can you imagine that.
