Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs

It doesn't get a lot better than this....

Have I ever mentioned that I met Lester Flatt when I was about 5? I still remember it pretty clearly for a memory at that age. I remember being backstage at Alpine Valley and I was wearing one of my pinafore-style dresses. He leaned over to talk to me, and I don't remember everything he said but I do remember this: his presence felt very confident, gentlemanly, and southern. He was the personality and presence of a quintessential Bluegrass master. I remember his hat, I remember that he was wearing a suit just like he wore here in this video.

Without further adoing from Ms. Jones, here are Earl and Lester performing "Hey Hey Hey " and "Flint Hill Special". Just leave 'em on while you go about your blog reading, it's good stuff.

A Bob Wills Break

Fuzz's recent post reminded me of how much I love Bob Wills. So I had to go track down some trax :)

And just because I love 'em, Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Bill Monroe:

Cheaterama 2007 at the Nite Owl

Howdy folks,

I have my photos up on Flickr from the 2007 Cheaters Car show which was held at the Nite Owl on Layton. Many of you enjoyed the photos from 2006, so I thought I'd bring it all to your attention yet again.

See'em here on Flickr!

Next Road Trip

Who knows, if I can keep Fourbucks out of the financial equation, I could probably manage to take myself on a road trip in early fall. You know, just when it goes from 80 degrees to 62 degrees around here. Ideally, I'd be packed up and moved to the southwest by then, but I've gotta take these things one step at a time.

Amarillo to Vegas, mostly along new route 40, otherwise known and partially still there as.... "Root 66". Which I've wanted to do since I was 22 years old and making 19k. Yeah that probably wouldn't have happened back then, but in my defense, I sure had less to worry about at the time.

We need a J-Bone

We need a J-Bone, originally uploaded by batman63.

I needed a flickr moment. In fact, I think I'll have two.

From one of my newest contacts, batman63. Also known as.... DJ Bat Guano.

That's the rated-G version of that AKA.

Follow Through Is Kind of Important

Tonight, without fail, I vow to finish Vogue 9558.

Too bad my camera is out getting a few alterations and nips and tucks of its' own....

But it's gotta be done so that a) I can wear the darned thing and b) I can work on Wayne Hancock without guilt.

Because you know, soon it will be time to start this little number, which will be called Mercury Four. Because ya know.... surf is inspiring and all :)

Just wait 'till you see the fabric and purse materials I've picked out for it. Really, it will be like no other.
